April Newsletter
We are getting close to recital and the end of our dance season. It has been such a blessing to see all of our dancers grow this year and form our big Ovations family. This month will be time to hone the skills we have learned all year and prepare for our watch week, April 7th-10th. Read below about the many recital updates and opportunities.

Reserved Seating at Recital- We are starting a tradition of selling reserved seating for the recital. Tickets will go on sale May 1st and 100% of the money will be put into an Ovations Scholarship Fund.
We need Heroes! Please call Rachel or email her (Rachel@dance4ovations.com) if you or anyone in your family coming to recital works in the following fields: Military, Orphanages, Police Dept, Fire Dept, Ambulance/911, FBI
Recital Prop making- We need help making some props for our recital. We need about 10 volunteers to sew fabric, decorate cardboard props, etc. Please let us know at the front desk if you can help. Thanks!!
Recital Opener- Our tradition is to have kids from each dance do a small part in the opener each year. We try to coordinate this within a few practices. This year the practices will be Monday May 25th at 6 p.m. and Friday May 30th at 4 p.m. Sign up in the lobby if your child will participate.
Parent/Recital Volunteers- If you are willing to help with recital please sign up in the lobby. Class moms will help check kids in and out of the dressing room- to ensure children leave safely. Please consider that this job will allow you to see your child perform, but will cause you to miss some numbers before and after their performance. Also if you would like to help with finale, we will need several parents organizing and preparing the kids to go on stage.
Recital DVDs- If you would like to get a DVD ($6) to practice with and have not received one, please sign up on the front desk.
Recital fundraiser- In effort to help you cut costs of recital, we have developed a fundraiser. You will be able to keep 25% of your profits and apply them toward your recital bill to cover costumes, pictures, recital video, etc. The rest of the money will cover the costs of printing programs, scenery, extra touches and renting the facility. Ads will be due May 1st! (next month!!!!) and please feel free to turn them in as you get them. The ads may be anything the buyer would like; most of the ads will be personal with sayings wishing dancers good luck, poems, bible verses, congratulations and favorite photos and others will be business ads similar to those in the newspaper. Take as many order forms as you need from the desk in the waiting room.
Dance Pictures- Our dance pictures will be taken by Gary Box. These individual photos are OPTIONAL to purchase but we ask you bring your child to the pictures so they will be in the group pictures. Gary Box will publish more information regarding times and cost soon.
Planning ahead for summer? We have several camps for kids. Check them out on the website or pick up info in the lobby.
Competitors- If you want to be involved in solo and group competitions next school year- now is the time to let Ms Rachel know. This summer we will begin working on solos and group numbers for next year’s competitive season. We will also have Performance Teams in different age categories. These groups will have 5-10 community performances throughout the year and attend at least 2 competitions. More information available in the lobby.
